Elementalism
The Classical Elements(ancient Greek philisophy) are the
components of our world--Fire, Air, Earth, and Water. Each is
associated within certain physical, mental, and spiritual
characteristics and factors.
There are many ways one can belive in the elements--no
philisophical view is wrong. Personally, I believe that the
elements are physically present in our everyday lives(see
below), but they also retain a much more evident spritual
importance--much like the Zodiac signs and the various
meanings of colors.
While there are many other "sub elements", such as the Taoist element of Wood(comparable to Air, oddly enough) and Aether(the "fifth element"), the
four basic ones are the ones I'll detail here :p
Fire
- Energy sources: Thermal energy
- Season: Summer
- Tarot suite: Rods
- Playing card suite: Clubs
- Colors: Reds and oranges
- Zodiac signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
- Guardian(s):Archangel Michael(Christian), Ifrit (Hindu)
- Sage's input: This is the element of valor, passion, creation, and overt action. Those influenced by it are often seen as "hot-headed" and short-tempered, but
it's natural for a Fire soul to be such--they propser by displaying their ferocious drive and emotion to others. This is the element of action.
Air
- Energy sources: Electrical and kinetic energy
- Season: Spring
- Tarot suite: Swords
- Playing card suite: Spades
- Colors: Greens, teals, silvers
- Zodiac signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
- Guardian(s):Archangel Raphael(Christian), Isarafel(Islamic), Thor (Norse)
- Sage's input: This is the element of intellect, malleability, and freedom. Air souls are typically quick-witted, but impatient thinkers with a constantly
roaming spirit and mind--
they seem to be constantly traveling or searching for something. This is the element of change.
Earth
- Energy sources: Essence of stone and wood
- Season: Autumn
- Tarot suite: Pentacles/Coins
- Playing card suite: Diamonds
- Colors: Browns, greens, silvers
- Zodiac signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
- Guardian(s): Angel Araqael, Angel Achaiah
- Sage's input: Those under the influence of the Earth are dutiful, patient, and firmly practical indivduals. Conservative by nature, Earth souls excel in all
aspects of the physical world, mastering its architect and mechanics. This is the element of composure.
Water
- Energy sources: Fluids, ice
- Season: Winter
- Tarot suite: Cups
- Playing card suite: Hearts
- Colors Blues, purples
- Zodiac signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
- Guardian(s): Shiva(Hinduism)
- Sage's input: Water souls are influenced the most by their environment, and are known to be emotional(sometimes overly so). Their surroundings
determine their "shape", and their key attributes include empathy, intuition, and life force. This is the element of emotion.
